1929 Plymouth Model U Deluxe Coupe. Inline-4 engine is 175 CID 45 Horsepower, odometer is inoperative. This one was traded in to us back in 1969 and was the first car in the VerHage MOPAR collection. This vehicle features: dual side mount spare tires, rare wire wheels, a storage rack & trunk behind the rumble seat, and a manifold heater. The Plymouth automobile was introduced at Madison Square Garden on July 7, 1928. It was Chrysler Corporation's first entry in the low-priced field previously dominated by Chevrolet and Ford. Plymouths were initially priced higher than the competition, but offered standard features such as internal expanding hydraulic brakes that Ford and Chevrolet did not provide. Plymouths were originally sold exclusively through Chrysler dealerships, offering a low-cost alternative to the upscale Chrysler-brand car. Aside from being part of the brand's second year of existence, this 1929 Plymouth Model U marked the first year when the nameplate didn't have ''Chrysler'' officially in front of it. It has its original wood floorboards, steel framing, all steel exterior, and original front leather seat, the rest of the interior is restored. The overall condition of the paint, chrome and trim is driver quality rated 3+ on the 5point scale. The vehicle drives out well and has been driven annually and serviced here regularly as long as we have owned it. Car was sold new in Dayton OH in 1929 and we have documentation on the first two owners.
